Macintosh have an own Operating System called Mac OS. The latest Mac OS is the Mac OS 10.8 known as Mountain Lion. Before Mac OS be known, first they called this OS is System. After many changes and innovation, Apple replace name for they System OS become Mac OS.

Mac OS 7.6

System 1.0
When the first Mac OS was released, his name is not Mac OS .. but it is often simply called System. 
On January 24, 1984, Apple released the System 1.0 operating system .. The first Operating System is the forerunner of  Mac OS in the future.
